WILLIAMSON – The annual Chattaroy Jr High School alumni reunion will have an extra special treat next week as they come together to welcome home “Rob Harris” to their Chattaroy community. Harris grew up in Chattaroy and stayed in touch with many local residents near and far via Facebook.
Growing up from childhood to a teenager, Harris attended both Chattaroy Grade & Jr High before graduating in 1982 from Williamson High School. Harris, the son of the late Robert and Jean Harris life-long residents of Chattaroy, often could be found entertaining his many school friends and family with his musical talents which carried on into his college years.
Harris married the love of life, Lara DeDario Harris and their marriage has blessed with them with three daughters, Bailey and twin girls, Emily and Amanda, who are grown now. Although family life and a full time job kept Harris quite busy, he was able to maintain and continue to help grow his singer/songwriter talents along his life’s path.
By being based in Nashville, TN, Harris has been afforded many opportunities to showcase his talents in the music industry.
In November 2013, Harris was an endorsed artist with Keyser Capos, followed up in February 2014 as he did a guest appearance on “Friday Night Live” on WADY The River in Alabama. Ty Hunter interviewed Harris and played three songs off of his newly released CD “Winnebago”.
In March 2014, Harris had songs on two records in the Top 5 on the Canadian Charts, “Greasy John Deere Cap” on Tom Hicks “Throw Down” CD (#14) and “18 & 17” on The Lovelocks debut EP (#5). This past January, SESAC & Harris entered into a new partnership “PRO” (Performing Rights Organization” in Nashville.
Harris’ songs have also been recorded by Ivan Parker, Karen Peck, Back Home and a variety of independent artists. Harris collaborated with the ACM Award Winning country duo, Joey+Rory by arranging an acoustic waltz version of the rock anthem “Freebird”, which appeared on Joey+Rory’s debut CD on Vanguard/Sugar Hill Record.
Rob Harris will be performing two live shows while in the Tug Valley area with a public appearance at Starters Sports Restaurant in downtown Williamson on Thursday, July 9th 7:30-9:00 PM. Reservations may be made by calling 304-235-8600 as limited seating is available.
A follow up performance will be at his alumni CJHS Reunion, as this is Harris first opportunity to attend any of the reunions because of family & music obligations in years past. This year by the help of the CJHS Reunion Committee, schedules were worked out to make this visit possible.
Each evening Harris will be showcasing his family friendly music filled with real life sprinkled with humor to his captive audience. He will be playing songs off of his latest CD “Winnebago” which will include a favorite crowd pleaser “Chattaroy Holler”. Harris also performs covers from James Taylor, John Denver, Jim Croce, The Eagles & Don Williams.
Harris’ concert is being presented by Starters Sports Restaurant, Marcum Law Offices, Mingo Pike Equipment Rental, Strosnider Suites, Just Teasin’, Stitch & Design & Hook & Haul Wrecker Service.
Come out this Thursday night and enjoy dinner and live performance with Rob Harris at Starters in downtown Williamson.
