WILLIAMSON – There will be plenty of folks wearing maroon and white in and around Williamson the weekend of September 23rd and 24th as the WHS All-Class Reunion will be held.
The event gets started on Friday, Sept. 23 with registration at the historic Williamson Fieldhouse from 1-5 p.m. Then dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.
After the dinner there will be a dance and social time.
On Saturday there will be a breakfast at the Fieldhouse starting at 9:00 a.m. Then a Memorial Service will start at 11 a.m. The WHS Hall of Fame will be held immediately after that service.
At 6:00 p.m. there will be dinner again followed by another dance with a local DJ spinning the tunes.
The fee for the entire weekend is only $50 per person. Checks or money orders can be sent to reserve your tickets to Williamson High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 55, Williamson, W.Va., 25661. The deadline is August 15.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame will be accepted until August 1, 2016.
If you know someone who has made an impact on his or her community or workplace, you can submit their names to the above address. (Editor’s Note: This is not the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame, which is a different organization. The WHS Athletic Hall of Fame will hold its induction dinner on Thursday evening at the Fieldhouse starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for that event are $35 and can be obtained from WHS Athletic HOF President Cecil Hatfield.)
“We hope all Williamson graduates will attend this fabulous reunion,” said June Blevins, chairman of the WHS Reunion Committee. Blevins said Sherry Hatfield serves as Treasurer and Barbara Smith as Secretary for the group. “We have several other hard-working committee members that are helping with different aspects of the reunion.”
“We hope to see some of the younger graduates attend this all-class reunion,” Blevins added. “We need some new blood on the committee too. We want to keep these reunions going for future generations.”
WHS Graduates should have received a letter in the mail with information about the reunion. It also has information on hotels in Williamson and throughout the region, like Logan and Pikeville. It also has a form graduates can mail in with their check to attend this great event.
