DINGESS – At a regular meeting of the Mingo County Board of Education (BOE) held at Dingess Elementary Tuesday evening, board members approved a number of personnel decisions.
Five were approved for new employment into exiting positions. Ellen Cantaral was approved as Health and Physical Education teacher for Williamson PK-8 for the 2016- 2017 school term. Debra Catron was approved as substitute teacher effective June 2, 2016. Amber Elkins, Elizabeth Pyskowski, and Michelle Wiley were approved as substitute teachers effective April 20.
Two were approved to transfer into new positions. Eric Starr was approved to transfer into Social Studies at Mingo Central High School (MCHS) and Melinda Taylor was approved to transfer to Art at Gilbert Middle. Both transfers will be effective on July 1, 2016.
Debra Catron was approved to retire as Health Occupations teacher at MCHS. Her retirement will be effective on June 1, 2016.
Stella Mullins was approved to resign as substitute teacher for Mingo County Schools effective April 7.
Mary Rayburn’s request for a leave of absence as Art Teacher at Matewan PK-8 was approved. The leave of absence will be effective from April 5 until May 3, 2016.
One new professional extracurricular assignment was approved for the 2016-2017 school year. Tiffany Young was approved as Soccer Coach at Tug Valley High School (TVHS) contingent on student interest.
The resignations from four professional extracurricular assignments were approved. Pamela Chapman’s resignation as Volleyball Coach at Lenore PK-8 was approved effective April 8. David Ledger was approved to resign as Assistant Football Coach at TVHS and Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at MCHS effective June 30. Garland Thompson was approved to resign as Boys Basketball Coach at MCHS effective April 7.
Decisions concerning service personnel were also approved by board members at Tuesday’s meeting. Two were approved for new employment into exiting positions. James Branham and Dallas Mounts were approved as substitute bus operators for Mingo County Schools effective April 20.
April Lockard was approved to transfer to a Cook II position at MCHS.
Mitzi May was approved to retire as Custodian III for Gilbert Elementary and Gilbert Middle effective June 30, 2016.
The resignation of Scott Evans from his position as substitute custodian for Mingo County Schools was approved effective April 11.
Carol Kirk was approved for reclassification as Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher II effective July 21, 2015.
Bonnie Moore’s request for an extension in her leave of absence from her position as Secretary II at MCHS until June 30, 2016 was approved.
The next regular meeting will be held on May 17, 2016.
