SWCCTC to host information speaker

LOGAN – Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College will host an informational session with nationally renowned entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Joe Kapp.

Kapp, a serial entrepreneur and national keynote speaker, wears a number of professional hats. He is an award winning serial entrepreneur, having started and sold his first business, in college. Kapp has significant experience working with community colleges around the United States on developing economic and entrepreneurial projects. Kapp has met with White House officials and worked nationally with local communities to serve as an economic development catalyst and entrepreneurial change agent.

Kapp has previously owned a successful asset management firm, where he worked with numerous small and medium business clients and managed over $80 Million in client assets. Mr. Kapp sold his financial planning practice and began focusing more on economic development and teaching entrepreneurship.

Recognized nationally for his work, he has authored numerous articles including an article for the peer reviewed Journal of Financial Planning, which was cited as part of the official record for a United States Supreme Court case. In addition, Kapp has been quoted in numerous articles from the Associated Press, AARP, the Washington Business Journal, the Washington Times and Investment News, among others. Kapp currently writes about entrepreneurship for the Huffington Post.

Kapp will share his dynamic experience of ecosystem development in a small, rural community in the hills of Appalachia. In this motivating, interactive and energy-filled talk, you will learn about the challenges, opportunities and methods used to develop entrepreneurial ecosystems. Attendees will walk away from this motivating talk feeling empowered and excited about taking on the new challenges and opportunities of community economic development.

The public event will be held on April 21st at 5pm in Room C-202 on the Logan Campus. Light refreshments will be served.
