Mingo County kindergarten orientation

Mingo County Schools will conduct kindergarten orientation during the month of March for all children entering kindergarten for the first time in the fall of 2016. Head Start and Pre-K children are scheduled in the mornings from 9 -12 and the children NOT enrolled in Head Start nor Pre-k will be in the afternoons from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

The purpose of the orientation is to provide new students and their parents the opportunity to become familiar with their school. In addition, teachers and parents will complete all necessary paperwork and screenings required to enter school. It is imperative that parents bring their child’s immunization record, state birth certificate with a seal, and social security card.

Activities include building orientation, pre-enrollment, kindergarten orientation, school expectations, school readiness, school supplies, parental involvement, and speech/language, hearing and vision screenings.

All children and their parents who will be attending kindergarten in the fall of 2016 are encouraged to attend.
