WILLIAMSON – Following an executive session to discuss personnel, the Williamson Utility Board voted to terminate the employment of Water Department Office Manager Connie Rockel at a regular meeting held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 28.

Williamson Mayor and Chairman of the Utility Board, Robert Carlton opened the discussion stating, “We have returned from executive session discussing personnel matters and after having met do we have any motions?”

Utility Board member, Larry Rosen stated, “Chairman, I would like to make a motion that we terminate the employment of the at-will employee Connie Rockel as Office Manager and in doing so offer her all benefits due her plus a two week severance.”

The motion was approved unanimously.

Following the motion, Carlton stated, “Connie, at this time I would like to ask you to leave the podium, having been terminated. Appreciate what you tried to do.”

Rockel was further required to leave all paperwork and materials. After Rockel’s exit, Rosen was requested to keep the minutes for the remainder of the meeting.

Carlton continued stating, “At this point, arising from personnel meeting and discussion, do we have any other motions?”

A motion was made to hire Lil Felix to replace Rockel as manager at the salary that is currently being paid for the position. The motion was approved unanimously.

“Over the last few weeks, we have had the opportunity to accept applications and review those applications. We have had a personnel committee review those and made a recommendation to the board and those recommendations have been carried out,” Carlton said in conclusion of the matter.
