Gunfire injures father and son

- Shooting occurs near Gilbert

GILBERT – Two men were wounded near the Coon Branch area near Gilbert, W.Va. on Saturday after a reported accidental shooting.

At approximately 1:05 p.m., Mingo County 911 reported two gunshot injuries at the home of Ricky Christian in Coon Branch.

Two Elite Care ambulances along with Gilbert Chief of Police Mike Rasmussen, Assistant Police Chief Nathan Glanden and Deputies J. Endicott and R. Fitch with the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department rushed to the scene where they found a father and son, Ricky Christian and Jonathan Christian, both injured.

“Both men suffered from lower extremity gunshot wounds,” said deputy Endicott.

Jonathan Christian was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Medical Center while his father Ricky Christian was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

“The incident is still an ongoing investigation,” added Endicott.

Endicott is the investigating officer for the shooting incident. More information will be made available as law enforcement continues the investigation.
