Boe approves personnel decisions

CINDERELLA – Members of the Mingo County Board of Education (BOE) approved a number of personnel decisions at a regular meeting held Dec. 15.

Several were approved for new employment into existing positions. Patricia Dean and Samantha Holcomb were approved as a substitute teacher for Mingo County Schools. Jason Lafferty was approved for employment in a Social Studies position at Matewan PK-8. Chelisa Lester was approved for a Business position during a leave of absence at Mingo Central High School. Robert May was approved for a Business position pending receipt of permit at Tug Valley High School.

Thirteen individuals were approved for transfer into new positions effective July 1, 2016. Jeanne Brewster was approved to transfer into a Special Education position at Burch PK-8. Walter Cline was approved to transfer to Special Education at Burch PK-8, Pamela Coleman was approved to transfer into Grade Four at Burch PK-8. Orville Hall was also approved to transfer into Grade Four at Burch PK-8. Theresa Hanshaw was approved to transfer into Grade Two at Burch PK-8. Faith Haynes was approved to transfer to a Health and Physical Education position at Burch PK-8. Jessica Horner was approved to transfer to a Pre-K and Special Needs position at Burch PK-8. Joy Hunt was approved to transfer to an Instructional Coach Position at Burch PK-8. Douglas Jackson was approved to transfer to an Assistant Principal position at Burch PK-8. Susan Jude was approved to transfer to a Special Education position at Burch PK-8. Sandra Porter was approved to transfer to a Title 1 position at Burch PK-8. Shawnee Ward was approved to transfer to a Pre-K position at Burch PK-8. Diana Wellman was approved to transfer to a Special Education position at Burch PK-8.

Three were approved to transfer into existing positions effective Jan. 4, 2016. Kenneth Bowens was approved to transfer to a Special Education position at Williamson PK-8. Robert Browning was approved to transfer to Health and PE at Mingo Central High School. Kimberly Vance was approved to transfer to Grade Three at Matewan PK-8.

Two were approved to transfer into existing positions effective July 1, 2016. Donna Hatfield was approved to transfer to Special Education at Lenore PK-8. Regina Crosley was approved to transfer to Special Education at Mingo Central High School.

Six were approved for retirement. Bonnie Baisden will be retiring from Lenore PK-8 effective June 30, 2016. Sandra Bentley will be retiring from an Instructional Coach position from Lenore PK-8. Martha Jane Carter will be retiring as Instructional coach from Burch Elementary School. Barry Cline will retire from his librarian position at Gilbert Elementary and Gilbert Middle. Doris Evans will retire from an unassigned position at Mingo county Schools. Ora Williams-Haga will retire from Grade Two at Dingess Elementary School.

Two resignations were approved. Amy Fitzpatrick will resign from her Science position at Tug Valley High School. Nola Kinser-Newsome will resign from her position as Substitute Teacher from Mingo County Schools.

Three requests for a leave of absence were approved. These include: Scarlette Moore, Jenna Reed, and Brenda Sammons.

Several terminations were approved for substitute positions. The terminations are effective immediately due to a lack of credentials. Those terminated include: Carrie Abernathy, Chelsie Adkins, Megan Adkins, Katherine Belcher, Kristy Bias, William Carrico, Mallory Colemen, Danny Daniels, Bradley Davis, Leigh Ann Fry, Tamela Goble, Deborah Hall, Donna Lester, David Maynard, Jane Mitchell, Sharon Mullins, Debra Parsley, Alene Scott, Jill Smith, Judith Starr, Peggy Tussey and Teresa Varney.

Two were removed from the preferred call list due to undelivered mail. Those include: Amy Newsome and Bethany Blackburn.

Eight professional extracurricular assignments were approved. Tiffany Brewer was approved as Math Tutor for Gilbert Middle. Robert Browning and Barry Cline were approved for the Child Nutrition Program at Gilbert Middle. Heather Johnson was approved as Volleyball Coach at Kermit PK-8. Robert May was approved as an unpaid Assistant Basketball Coach at Tug Valley High School. Carmella Porter was approved for the Child Nutrition Program at Gilbert Middle. Jack Stewart was approved as Girls Basketball Coach at Mingo Central High School. Mary Annetta Swafford was approved as SAT Chair at Matewan PK-8.

For service personnel, Rhonda Hall was approved for new employment as an Aide and Autism Mentor at Mingo Central High School. Linda Chandler’s resignation was approved for substitute aide for Mingo County Schools. Ella Michelle Clark’s resignation was approved for substitute cook at Mingo County Schools.

Also in service personnel, two were approved to be removed from the preferred recall list due to undelivered mail. These include: Toni Fitzpatrick and L. Michelle Workman.

Several terminations were approved in service personnel. The terminations are effective immediately and are due to unavailability. These include: Jamie Browning, Toni Fitzpatrick, Donna Hackney, Melanie Hatfield, Pam Ramey, Tera Blackburn, Deborah Hatfield, Tyler Hayes, Barbara Justice, Natasha Burton, Clifford Cline, E.F. Farley, Trish Hensley, Chelsea Hill, James Layne, Steven Mark Stewart, Gary Wallace, L. Michelle Workman, Greg Baisden, David Blankenship, Misty Brown, Carmela Dotson, Shawn Kiser and Misty Varney.
