WILLIAMSON- Following an executive session to discuss personnel matters, the Williamson Utility Board announced the decision to begin interviews for a position in the management office of the Williamson Water Department.
The meeting was held Thursday, Dec. 10 in the Williamson City Council Chambers at 3:30 p.m.
Williamson Mayor, Robert Carlton reconvened the meeting saying, “After meeting in executive session, we will report to the audience that we will be conducting interviews over the next few weeks. “
“They are looking for someone to assist and help in the management office of the Williamson Utility Board,” Carlton continued.
“You mean to help Connie (Rockell)?” Teresa McCune questioned. Rockell currently holds the managerial position at the Williamson Water Department. Rockell was present at the utility board meeting and assisted with the proceedings.
Carlton responded saying, “I cannot comment on personnel matters at this point. They are interviewing for someone in that office and the qualifications on the resumes may determine what position they are qualified to hold. We will report at the next meeting the results of those interviews, if there is a decision made.”
At the end of the meeting, time was allotted for public comments. During that time, McCune continued the discussion regarding the previously mentioned management position. McCune questioned how many times the job announcement had ran in the newspaper and asked if applications were still being received. “Are you no longer taking applications?” McCune questioned.
Carlton responded saying, “At this point we are going to review the applications and see how many of them meet the qualifications.”
“Can you tell us how many applications you have?” McCune asked.
“We received six or seven,” Carlton responded.
The results of the interviews will be discussed at the next Williamson Utility Board meeting. The next Utility Board meeting will take place in the Williamson City Council Chambers Thursday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
