GILBERT – At Tuesday’s Mingo County Board of Education meeting, board members approved a number of professional and service personnel positions.
For new employment into existing professional positions, Meagan Farley was approved as a first grade teacher at Burch Elementary school effective Nov. 30. Margaret Fitch was approved as a third grade teacher at Gilbert Elementary effective Nov. 18. Joshua Rowe was approved as a substitute teacher for Mingo County Schools.
Also approved were three transfers into existing positions. Alicia Hall was approved to transfer from first grade at Burch Elementary into fifth Grade at Matewan PK-8 effective Dec.2. Kyrstyn Noe was approved to transfer from Special Education at Lenore PK-8 to a Coordinator of Special Ed. Transitions for Mingo County Schools. Kimberly Vance was approved to transfer from first grade at Burch Elementary to a third grade position at Matewan PK-8.
Lisa Ashurst was approved to transfer into a reconfigured position from Title 1 at Matewan PK-8 to Title 1 and English as a Second Language at Williamson PK-8.
Two requests for leaves of absence were approved. Patricia Bartram was approved for a leave of absence from a third grade position at Dingess Elementary. Brenda Sammons was approved for a leave of absence for a Science position at Tug Valley High School.
Two resignations were also approved. Frankie Kane was approved to resign from a substitute teacher position. Jamie Robinette was approved to resign from a Special Education position at Williamson PK-8.
Retirement was approved for Debra Coleman from a fifth grade position at Matewan PK-8. Retirement was also approved for Darla Hatfield as counselor at Burch and Dingess Elementary.
Professional extracurricular assignments were also approved. Several were approved for the Child Nutrition Adult Program. The following were approved for this program in schools throughout the county : Cheryl Bailey, Marsha Boggs, Riley Browning, Marcella Charles, Wendy Cisco, Christine Cline, Lindsay Cline, Tony Clusky, Kelli Curry, Fredrick Dempsey, Theresa Dillion, Deena Evans, Edith Ford, Reuben Ford, David Hanshaw, Christine Harmon, Ellen Hatfield, Eric Hatfield, Charles Henry, Melissa Hunt, Ted Kinder, Robert May, Latisha Marcum, Sarah McVarney, Linda Newsome, Alan Riffle, Joshua Sammons, Timothy Sheppard, Daniel Sizemore, Melanie Smith, and Angela Varney.
Professional extracurricular assignments were also approved for sports. Ashley Bolyard was approved as Assistant Cheer Coach at Tug Valley High School. Patrick Cline was approved as Softball Coach at Mingo Central High School. Teresa Tiller Cline was approved as Assistant Softball Coach at Mingo Central High School. Rodney Goff was approved as Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Lenore PK-8. Owen Hinkle Jr. was approved as Boys Basketball Coach at Kermit PK-8. Brad Rawls was approved as Boys Basketball Coach at Gilbert Middle School. Timothy Sheppard was approved as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Lenore PK-8. Justin Crawford was approved to resign from Boys Basketball Coach from Kermit PK-8.
Also included in professional extracurricular assignments were approvals for Wellness Coaches and After School Tutors. Andrea Clark was approved as part time Wellness Coach at Mingo Central High School. Gina Hicks was approved as Gear Up Tutor at Kermit PK-8. Erin Oliver was approved as Wellness Coach at Burch Middle School. Deanna Powers was approved as After School Tutor at Burch Middle School. Mary Ann Testerman was approved as part time Wellness Coach at Mingo Central High School.
Three service personnel were approved for new employment into existing positions. Gregory White was approved as a substitute bus operator for Mingo County Schools. Charles Fowler was approved as part-time custodian III at Williamson PK-8. April Lockard was approved as cook II at Gilbert Elementary.
Three service personnel were approved to transfer into new positions. Drema Cooper was approved to transfer to custodian III at Burch PK-8. Susan Curry was approved to transfer to cook II at Burch PK-8. Alexis Hunt Harris was approved to transfer to cook II at Burch PK-8.
Boonie Moore was approved for a leave of absence from her secretary II position at Mingo Central High School.
Magaly Smith was approved to resign from her position as substitute secretary at Mingo County Schools.
Donna Rahe and Cheryl Wolford were reclassified from aide III to Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher II.
