WEST END – The Williamson Police Department (WPD) made a drug arrest involving cocaine early Thursday morning around 5:00 a.m. at Victoria Court in West Williamson
According to Chief Barry Blair, Lt. Grady Dotson and patrolman C. Daniels responded to a 911 call about alleged drug activity in the apartment complex in West End.
The officers arrested 24-year old Dustin Wilkerson for possession of cocaine.
“Once we responded to the scene we observed illegal drug activity through the window,” Lt. Dotson stated. He said it appeared that individuals were smoking cocaine from a spoon after it had been cooked with a lighter.
“We knocked on the door and identified ourselves as police officers,” Lt. Dotson said. At first there was no response, but when officers said they would break the door down to gain entrance, a female opened the door to let them in.
“We are just trying to cleanup Williamson and the drugs here in our backyard,” Lt. Dotson said. “I want our citizens and our young children to feel safe.”
More than a gram of white powder believed to be cocaine was confiscated along with a metal stem pipe, razor blades, a spoon and plate. The drug will be sent to the West Virginia State Police crime lab in South Charleston for testing.
Wilkerson has a police record and has been arrested in the past, according to both Chief Blair and Lt. Dotson. He was currently on home confinement for other charges, according to the police report.
Chief Blair, Lt. Dotson and Sgt. John Hall of the WPD says their department is attempting to make more drug arrests in the city limits. If anyone has information on illegal drug activity they can contact the department at 304-235-2570. Tips can remain anonymous.
