WVSP welcomes new assistant sergeant

WILLIAMSON – The Williamson detachment of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) welcomed new Assistant Sergeant, B.K. Wellman on Thursday, October 1.

Wellman is a native of Wayne County, W.Va. In March 2007, Wellman began working at the WVSP detachment in Logan County.

In 2008, he served temporary duty at the Williamson detachment.

Wellman said his goal at the Williamson WVSP detachment is, “to serve the citizens of Mingo County and to do the best for the public and help teach and train the younger troopers at the detachment.”

Wellman considers being promoted to sergeant as the greatest accomplishment of his career at the WVSP. “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication,” Wellman said.

Wellman joins Sergeant M.S. Lively at the Williamson detachment. Other troopers serving at the attachment are: Trooper First Class (TFC) J.K. Harris, TFC J.D Matheny, Senior Trooper(S/Tpr.), S. A. Belt, S/Tpr. J .J. Dean III, S/Tpr. T.G. Kania III, S/Tpr. D.L Contos, Tpr. R.L. Jennings and Tpr. H.A. Rose.
