WILLIAMSON – Longtime Mingo County Magistrate Deloris “Dee” Sidebottom has announced she will be retiring effective October 31. She serves in the 30th Judicial Circuit.
“Retiring has been a difficult decision for me and one I have struggled with for months. However, I believe it is time for me to turn over the job. Thirty years is a long time to be in politics. I will truly miss my co-workers and my friends,” Magistrate Sidebottom said in a letter written to Mingo County Circuit Judge Miki Thompson.
Thompson has appointed Brock Mounts, of Gilbert, to replace the retiring Mingo County Magistrate.
The West Virginia Supreme Court says Sidebottom’s retirement is effective Oct. 31.
Judge Thompson appointed Brock Mounts on Friday to replace Sidebottom. He will serve the remainder of Sidebottom’s term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2016.
Mounts currently is a legal assistant at a private law firm, Sammons Law Office, in Gilbert . Mounts has worked in the legal field for 15 years.
Sidebottom moved to Mingo County from Logan County in the 1980s.
