BOE approves personnel changes

WILLIAMSON – The Mingo County Board of Education (BOE) approved several personnel changes at a special meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Several people were approved for new employment into existing positions. Brittany Baisden was approved to transfer into a math position at Tug Valley High School.

Kristy Bias, Jason Blankenship, Kathy May Chafin, Henry Dillon, Johnny Neal Murphy, Kim Spaulding, Darlene Griffith and Nichole Blair were approved to substitute teach throughout Mingo county.

At Gilbert Middle, Tiffany Brewer was approved as a Title I interventionist and Robert Browning was approved for Health and PE.

Donald Bruce Curry was approved as an instructional coach at Gilbert Elementary.

Channing Daniels was approved for a school psychologist position.

Cathy Marcum was approved for LPN Coordinator for Mingo County Schools.

The BOE approved three people for transfers into existing positions. Sarah Logan was approved to teach art at Lenore PK-8. Timothy Craig Parker was approved to transfer into a mathematics position at Matewan PK-8. Susan Jude was approved to transfer into a Hearing Impaired and Special Education Homebound position.

Angela Gooslin was approved to be reassigned to a Kindergarten position at Matewan PK-8.

Two resignations were approved. Elaine Booten was approved to resign as a substitute teacher. Tonya Slone has been approved to resign from Social Studies at Matewan PK-8 pending replacement.

Arella Cline was approved to retire effective Dec. 31 2015. She currently holds a Title I position at Gilbert Elementary School.

Scarlette Moore was approved for a leave of absence at Burch Middle School. Moore’s leave of absence was effective Aug. 24, and will continue until Jan. 4 2016.

The BOE also approved creating a position for a Professional Accountant for Mingo County Schools.

Professional extracurricular assignments were also approved. Wendy Cisco was approved as Cheer Coach for Mingo Central High School. Michele Vance has been approved as Girls’ Soccer Coach for Mingo Central High School.

Two resignations were approved from professional extracurricular assignments. Kyrstyn Noe resigned as Cheer Coach at Mingo Central High School. Cameron Smith resigned as Boys’ Basketball Coach at Williamson Pk-8.

The BOE also approved two service personnel for new employment into existing positions. Ricky Ferris was approved as a Bus Operator in the Gilbert area. James Napier was approved as a custodian.

Several service personnel were approved to transfer into existing positions. Carolyn Baize and Kimberly Dixon were approved as an Aide/Autism Mentor at Lenore PK-8. Dianna Bragg was approved to transfer as a cook at Mingo Central High School. Melissa Endicott was approved to transfer into a Transportation Secretary at Mingo County Schools. Vicky Fraley was approved to transfer as an aide at Williamson PK-8. Roberta Toler was also approved to transfer as an aide at Gilbert Elementary.

Lisa Sipple was approved to resign from her position at Williamson PK-8. Glenn Moore is retiring as bus operator for the Tug Valley area.
