WILLIAMSON – At a recent meeting of the Strong Through Our Plan (STOP) Coalition meeting, a representative from the Family Resource Network (FRN) discussed the upcoming annual Community Baby Shower scheduled for Friday, June 9.
Planning is currently still underway for the community baby shower and a final date has yet to be announced.
Due to the large turnout at last year’s community baby shower, this year’s event will be held at the Williamson Fieldhouse. Last year, more than 90 people were in attendance. The community baby shower is open to residents in Mingo County and surrounding areas.
The event is not only for pregnant women. Women with children up to age three are encouraged to attend. Fathers are also welcome at the event.
The baby shower will feature food, games, activities and opportunities for gift certificates. Several community leaders and organizations will be present at the event to provide information about child seat safety, fire safety and other useful information.
Organizations will set up tables to provide helpful tips and information. Last year’s event boasted representatives from A.B.L.E. Families, Valley Health, First Choice Services, Mingo County Schools, STOP Coalition, Cabell Huntington Health Department, Mountain Health Trust, West Virginia Birth to Three, Mingo County DHHR, TSN/WIC, West Virginia Tobacco Free Pregnancy Initiative, Adolescent Health Coordinator, Healthy in the Hills, Williamson Health and Wellness Center and Unicare and many are expected to return for this year’s event.
