Leaving all your troubles behind

Many times God’s people found themselves in predicaments throughout the Bible. They faced division, slavery, famine, war and powerful adversaries who sought to destroy them. In some cases the trouble was the product of their unwise decisions. In one dilemma, an enraged pharaoh unleashed his terrifying army and trapped them at the Red Sea. Like numerous other occasions, Israel cried out to God and he came through for them. Imagine being a spectator when God parted the red sea and made a way for his people. Throughout history, God raised up a deliverer like Moses who saved his people from oppressive situations. Even today the Lord will prove his faithfulness to us when we turn to him.

In modern times we do not see a wild man with camel hair eating wild locust. Nor do we see a prophet with a staff coming to our rescue. However, God has sent us 21st century folks something much better. He sent his son Jesus who is still available to meet all of our needs. In fact, he is our modern day deliverer who is there for us in those tight spots of life. When we call on him, he comes to our rescue and makes a way out of nowhere. He provided our greatest deliverance on the cross when he shed his blood for our sins. We all were held captive by the chains of sin only to face the eternal consequences. Christ paid the price and nailed our guilt to the tree. Now faith in Jesus will make us forever free.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation, look for direction in Psalms 34: 4: “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” This chapter acknowledges that the righteous will experience many afflictions. In spite of this, the Lord will deliver us out of them all. He made a pathway in the middle of the Red Sea for a helpless people. It is good to know that the God who drowned the entire Egyptian army is on our side. We need to seek after this deliverer and give him complete control. Jesus will return and it is important that we are ready in these last days. The Church will reunite with him in the air and be saved from the wrath to come on the earth. Again, Christ will appear in great glory and conquer all evil in our final salvation. Our deliverer is coming again very soon!
