Nara Mae Adkins Ledger, 91, of Pax, formerly of Lorado, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the home of her daughter at Pax. Born December 2, 1917 on 10 Mile Creek in Lincoln County she was the daughter of the late Elisha and Sally Dyer Adkins. She was preceded in death also by her husband, Pedro G. Ledger, Jr., two brothers and 10 sisters.

Nara began her working career at Sylvania Electric in Huntington, she also worked at Guyan BBQ in Logan, Lorado Grade School, Logan Bowling Center, and Nick’s Restaurant in Logan. She was also a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church and attended the First Christian Church in Logan. Nara was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4523, she also served as Chaplain and worked in may elections. Nara retired to Huntington, and after her husband’s death in 1988 she returned to Lorado for several years before moving to Pax with her daughter Joan. Nara dedicated her life to serving her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jean White of Oklahoma City, Okla., Belva Lorraine Jude of Pilgrim, Ky., and Joan (William) Woolwine of Pax; sons Frankie Carl (Maria) Ledger of Sarasota, Fla., Pedro Gregory (Rose Spano) Ledger, III of Chattaroy, and David Moose (Sharon) Ledger of Statesville, NC; one sister, Velva Adkins of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and good friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Church in Logan with Dr. Charles M. Wood, II officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Friends may call Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Honaker Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Her son-in-law, William Woolwine who helped in giving Nara such wonderful loving care will serve as her Honorary Pallbearer.
