Irene Mae Gallimore of Hillsboro, Ohio formerly of Stone, Ky., passed this life into her heavenly home Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. 

Born in Kaymoor, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Faira Easterling Alexander. She is survived by one sister, Ester of Chicago, Ill.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clarence Avis Gallimore in 1988 as well as two sons, Clarence Avis, Jr. and Michael Wade. Also preceding her in death were five sisters, Ruth, Rosie, Elsie, Gladys and Elizabeth as well as one brother, Rupert.

At the age of 101, Irene was the oldest member of the Eastern Coal Company family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Greater Life Assembly Church in Hillsboro.

She is survived by daughters, Florence Kious of Victor; Yolanda (Jim) Cohen of Commerce, Mich.; Betty (Ed) Hill of Fla.; Geraldine Willis of Red Jacket; Peggy Goins of  Logan.; Caroline Murphy of Defuniak Springs, Fla. and Kathryn (Charles) Cross of Martinsville, Ind.; sons, Garland (Lula) Gallimore with whom she made her home with of Hillsboro, Ohio; Richard (Lydia) Gallimore of Davisburg, Mich. and Larry (Sue) Gallimore of South Williamson, Ky., and one daughter-in-law, Betty Gallimore of Canada, Ky.

At her 100th birthday celebration in 2008, five generations were present. She is survived by 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 84 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with grandson and Pastor Lloyd “Red” Gallimore officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky., with grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers.
