Donna Brown

Donna Louise Brown, 55, of Bruno, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at her residence. Born April 11, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Winfred “Bo” and Doris Grimmett.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, at the Pathway Church of God, in Christian, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, in Godby Heights. Friends may gather with the family at the Pathway Church of God on Thursday, October 6, after 6 p.m.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of arrangements.

Lou Bunn

Lou Ellen Bunn, 78, of Canada, Ky., died Monday, October 3, 2011, in the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, Belfry, Ky. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday.

G.C. Childress

The Rev. G.C. Childress, 77, of McAndrews, Ky., passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 7, at noon from the Logan Street First Baptist Church in Williamson. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel in Toler, Ky.

Norma Maynard

Norma Caines "Snookie" Maynard, 85, of South Williamson, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Monday; October 3, 2011 from the Skilled Nursing Facility at Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatfield Funeral Chapel in Toler, Ky.

Henry Ward

Henry Kay Ward, Jr., 91, of Williamson, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Kay was born December 11, 1919, at Offutt, Ky., the son of the late Henry K. and Cyndia Parker Ward.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by sisters, Olive Baker, Blanche Taylor, Jetty Verl Ward and Roberta Ward.

Kay graduated from Caney Creek Junior College (Alice Lloyd College) in Pippa Passes, Ky., with a teaching degree. He began his career as a teacher and later as a principal in Johnson County, Ky. During World War II he worked in Baltimore, Md., for Glen L. Martin Aircraft Manufacturing in research and development. After moving to Williamson he worked as Service Manger for Citizens Motor Company and Price Motor Company, taught at the Mingo County Vocational School, was Superintendent of the Mingo County School Bus Garage, served as a city councilman for eight years, was Flood Coordinator in 1977, and was Williamson Water Superintendent until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Daniels Ward; daughters, Joyce Spradlin, Sandie (Ted) Akers and Cindy Ward; grandchildren, Sherri (Ralph) Copley, Kimberly Spradlin, Erin Cooley, Alyson (Derek) Fitch, Adrienne Blackburn and Cameron Blackburn; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great- great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, October 4, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Akers Family Cemetery at Ransom, Ky. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
