New Tazewell man faces rape, other charges

A New Tazewell man is in the Claiborne County Justice Center jail on multiple charges including rape, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.


Marty R. Rouse, 36, was taken into custody during the early evening hours of July 8 for allegedly raping a woman at or nearby Jimmy’s Place, a restaurant located along Norris Lake.


According to the initial police report, filed by Claiborne County Sheriff’s officer Jacob Day, Rouse allegedly used intimidation by forcing the rape victim at the point of a gun.


Rouse is also charged with stealing the victim’s cell phone, valued at $80, during the commission of the crime.


He is currently jailed under a $150,000 secured bond.
