SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. - The planning committee for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Tug Valley met recently at Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital to discuss the 2014 Relay for Life, which is scheduled for June 20, in Williamson at the Jim Van Zant Baseball Field at Lefty Hamilton Park in West Williamson.

Shelia May, community manager for the South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society Inc., discussed the various projects scheduled prior to the Relay. Fundraisers will include a yard sale on May 3 at the former Magic Mart building, (now an ARH medical facility), located on U.S. Highway 119, near the Hardy/Toler exit.

The Survivor Dinner will be held this year on May 22 at First Baptist Church at Belfry, Ky. All survivors and caretakers are invited to join with the Relay for Life for this special dinner. More details of plans for the event will be announced in the near future.

Relay for Life is a program to raise awareness and funds that enable the American Cancer Society to save lives by finding cures and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people get well and stay well.
