The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mary Alice woman after she allegedly wrecked her vehicle near a house while intoxicated.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Brewer said he and deputies Britt Lipfird and Mitch Alford responded to a call of a single-vehicle wreck on Pope Hill Road in which the vehicle was hanging off the road nearly striking a residence.

“Upon arrival it was first stated that another female subject was the driver, but after a brief investigation it was determined Krystal Ward was the driver of the vehicle,” Brewer said. “While placing Ward under arrest, several pills were found in two separate clear baggies as well as a Suboxone strip.”

Brewer said at the time of the wreck an 8-year-old boy along with his parents were inside the residence that was nearly struck by Ward’s vehicle.

Ward was arrested by Lipfird on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree wanton endangerment and failure to maintain required insurance.
