Former Williamson High School graduate Dr. Patrick Hairston is now the Executive Associate Athletic Director at the University at Albany in Albany, NY. His responsibilities include a wide range of supervisory duties, including oversight of compliance for several sports.

Hairston has already had a unique career since he left the small town of Williamson. Hairston grew up in East End and played midget league, junior high and high school sports in Williamson.

For a short time, Hairston was an assistant AD for compliance at West Virginia University.

Hairston has warm memories of his days of growing up in the area.

“As I reflect on my experience of being a student-athlete at Williamson High School, I have fond memories,” Hairston said. “Being a multi-sport student-athlete at Williamson High School helped me develop an intellect to implement a diversified set of skills - a relentless work ethic, time management and leadership, which has carried over into my professional career.”

“I would like to acknowledge and provide credit to my success to my parents Henry and Willene Moore and my grandmother Zada Hairston and my immediate family members, church family, teachers and coaches who gave me the proper instruction and guidance to help develop my character,” Hairston added.

“My family has instilled in me to be a life time learner; therefore, I pursued higher education,” he said.

“As I continued to be blessed to have a successful career in athletic administration, that aforementioned instruction has assisted me to develop a national network. I have traveled across the county and I have met and befriended very influential individuals. Having a career in athletic administration has provided me with opportunities to attend NCAA Final Fours, College World Series, a BCS Bowl Game and a Super Bowl just to name a few,” Hairston explained.

“It is with great appreciation and gratitude I share those lessons learned with the student- athletes and others I meet in my professional capacity as well as those I encounter on my journey in life,” said Hairston.

“In turn, I walk in the same footsteps and stand on the shoulders of others who helped shape my future with their instruction, guidance and sacrifice which has created a continuous legacy that lives on,” he concluded.
