Mingo and Pike Counties are having Trick or Treat Thursday, October 31, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. Ghosts, goblins, super heroes, witches and other characters will be out and about, so use extra caution as you are driving through neighborhoods this week. Some additional activities planned for our communities are listed below.
The Williamson Kiwanis Club will sponsor Trick or Treat at the West Williamson Field House from 6 – 8 p.m. There will be a costume contest, refreshments, games, prizes and all activities are free of charge. There will also be a haunted house, which will be decorated by civic club students from Tug Valley High School. Admission to the Haunted House will be $1, which will go back to support the civic clubs at Tug Valley High School. The Haunted House will be open from 6-9 p.m.
There will be a Fall Festival at Living Water Child Care on Second Ave., Williamson, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. There will be games, prizes and refreshments free of charge.
Southside Mall will have several activities October 31. There will be a Haunted House across from Magic Mart in the former Shoe Show location from 5 – 11 p.m.; a costume contest for children ages birth to 12 years from 5:45 – 7 p.m. and Trick or Treat at mall stores from 7 – 8 p.m.
The Town of Gilbert, the Larry Joe Harless Community Center, and the Gilbert CVB will also be hosting Trick or Treat/Trunk or Treat at the LJH Community Center on Thursday, October 31st, from 6 to 8 p.m. This year, the Middle School aged students, grades 5 - 8, will be able to enjoy a Monster Bash dance in the gym, with dancing to a DJ and watching it all on the Jumbo Screen. Prizes will be awarded to the best costume. Please call the LJHCC at 304-664-2500 (ext. 0) to sign up for handing out candy or for more information.
The Bill Snodgrass Community Center at Varney will be handing out Halloween Candy from 6-8 p.m.
