The 8th Annual Steve “Duco” Ratz Ride is scheduled for Sunday September 29, and for the second straight year, all proceeds will benefit the June Montgomery Harless Children’s Home, a program of the Children’s Home Society of W.Va.
The June Harless Shelter is a non-profit emergency shelter that temporarily houses abandoned, abused, and neglected youth.
Registration for the ride will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Logan Motorcycle Sales; departure time is set for 1 p.m.
Although the exact route to be taken this year has not been announced, past routes have traveled through southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky and lasts a few hours. The event will wind its way back to Logan Motorcycles Sales for food, soft drinks, giveaways, and drawings.
Representatives of the June Harless Shelter will be attending the ride to discuss the work they do.
Those wishing to participate may pre-register during regular business hours at Logan Motorcycle Sales. Fees are $15 per bike or $20 for rider and passenger plus you get a free t-shirt with registration.
The ride is held in honor of Steve “Duco” Ratz who loved to ride. He was known to invite anyone he saw on short weekend trips and traditional holiday weekends, sometimes traveling as far away as Mexico and South America.
For more information on the ride, contact Denny or Shawnda at Logan Motorcycle Sales 304-752-4145 or Megan at June Harless Children’s Home at 304 239-2470.
