The Tug Valley Panthers will renew their rivalry with the Tolsia Rebels at they travel north on U.S. 52 for a road game.
Coach Tony Clusky’s team will take his team to Haysi, Virginia this Friday.
Tug Valley heads into this week’s game ranked No. 15 in Class 1A. They have a 2-1 record. The only defeat came at the hands of No. 8 ranked Meadow Bridge.
Last week the Panthers defeated Mt. View up in Welch.
Haysi is 2-0 this season. The Tigers have defeated Castlewood and Clintwood, two southwest Virginia schools, in their only two games. They have already had an open date. Quarterback Jalen Sykes leads the Haysi offense this season.
Sophomore fullback Phillip Lucas has 43 carries for 271 yards for a 6.3 yards per carry average to lead the Panthers. Senior running back David Runyon has 239 yards on 56 carries and a pair of TDs. He is averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Conley has 40 carries for 90 and a pair of TDs.
In the receiving department, Runyon had 10 receptions for 110 yards and one TD,
Austin Baisden has three receptions for 63 yards and two TDs, Aaron Copley four receptions for 60 yards and a TD, Lucas five receptions for 44 yards and Corbin Oliver – 1 reception for 9 yards. Conley is 23-for-38 passing for a 60.5 completion percentage and 256 yards, four touchdowns and no picks.
Conley leads the TVHS defense with 16 tackles, Lucas has 14,Jonathan Farley 12, Copley 11, Runyon 10, Dwayne Marcum 8, Thomas Baisden 7, Corbin Oliver 6 and Dustin Mills 6.
Kickoff at is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
