MADISON - The Lady Miners opened the season with a big win over the Scott Skyhawks. They won the first set 25 to 10 and the second set 25 to 17.
Senior Kristyn Johnson served 7 points, Brandi Cisco served 6 points and Ashley Curry served 5 points in first set. Cisco served
5 pts Curry served 3, and Kiearia Hammond served 2 points in second set.
Their second opponent in the night's tri-match was the Herbert Hoover Huskies. HHH defeated the Lady Miners in two sets. MCHS lost
the first set by a sizeable margin, 13 to 25, but they regrouped and battled hard before the Huskies took a narrow 32 to 30
victory in the second set.
The two teams exchanged leads eight times late in the second set, and despite the loss Coach Jan Cisco was very pleased with the Lady
Miners' teamwork and tenacity against a very strong Herbert Hoover team.
MCHS vs. Herbert Hoover: 13 - 25 and 30 - 32. In the first set, Kristyn Johnson served 3 points. In the second set, Ashley Curry served 5 pts., Kiearia Hammond served 4 pts., and Hannah Church served for 3 pts.
