Gridiron Alumni has another great rivalry game scheduled for this fall, so mark your calendars.
The alumni of Belfry will battle against the alumni from Pikeville on Saturday, September 21 at the W.C. Hambley Athletic Complex in Pikeville. The game will start at 7 p.m., but the gates open at 6 p.m. and fans are encouraged to show up early to avoid long lines.
Some of the former standouts playing for Belfry will be All-State players Jonathan Duncan (Class of 2005), Antwain Brifford (Class of 2005), and Matt Smith (Class of 2005), Doug Howard (2005) and SEC Standout and former safety for the Baltimore Ravens, David Jones (Class of 2005).
Some of the guys representing Pikeville will be former standouts Jason Anderson (Class of 2000), Steve Johnson (Class of 1997), and Stephen Grubbs (Class of 2001), and Matt Branham (Class of 2001).
Each team is loaded with talent. Many of the Pikeville team has played for Pikeville and Pikeville College. It should be a great event. It’s not too late to join them. If you or someone you know is interested in playing, go to www.gridironalumni.com to register and pay.
Since 2010, Gridiron Alumni has used alumni football games as a fundraiser for local schools and charities all over the United States. Their games have helped raised over $200,000. For this game, the concession stands will be run by the Pikeville High School Athletics and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to them. Please come watch a tremendous game between two great rivals and help support local athletics while you’re at it.
