WILLIAMSON - A home health nurse who was driving a Mingo Wayne Home Health company vehicle was rear-ended as she stopped on Rt. 52 to make a turn onto East 4th Avenue in Williamson.
According to Williamson Police Lt. G.P. Dotson who investigated the accident, Sally Ooten, of Delbarton, was the driver of a 2010 Jeep Compass that had stopped on Rt. 52 near Goodman Avenue in preparation to make a left hand turn onto East 4th Avenue when a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander operated by Sonya Hackney of Williamson failed to stop and slammed into the rear of the Jeep. Moderate damage occurred to both vehicles.
Mingo County Emergency Services and EMT’s from the Williamson Fire Department removed Ooten from her vehicle and accessed her injuries. She was transported to the Williamson Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of back and neck injuries she sustained in the mishap. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt.
Traffic was held up on U.S. 52 in the southbound lane for approximately one hour before the damaged vehicle and debris from the wreck was cleared from the roadway. Duba’s Wrecker Service also responded to the scene.
