GOODY, Ky. – If you like sweets such as cupcakes, then you will be happy to know there is a new place in the Tug Valley to purchase these treats in the South Side Mall.
American Pie and Cupcakes will open on Monday in the former location of the Coffee Corner at the center of the local mall. Wendy Hackney Baisden will be running the new eatery.
The restaurant has been remodeled and customers should like the changes. The bar-type stool and counter has been replaced with tables and chairs for a more comfortable setting. The new eatery will also serve a variety of sandwiches and salads, as-well-as their specialty: sweets from homemade cupcakes to assorted candies.
American Pie and Cupcakes will offer free Wi-Fi service and Baisden hopes to eventually host local book club meetings. She also plans to have events such as little girl tea parties, a “lunch buddy card” and she will offer a cupcake club.
Customers will be able to place special orders of the desserts by the dozens.
As of last week, the shop was still under wraps while the remodeling has been taking place. Baisden hopes to have the grand opening on Wednesday, July 3rd, coinciding with the annual 4th of July fireworks show and other events going on at the South Side Mall. During that time, the restaurant will offer free sample “shots” of different types of icing.
She hopes to have a ribbon cutting ceremony soon after with the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce and other local officials.
