WILLIAMSON — The Pike County Grand Jury indicted five individuals, including a Forest Hills, Ky., man for assault.
Scott Stokes, 20, was indicted for second-degree assault when he struck Miranda Maynard on April 21with his hands and feet or with a dangerous instrument, thereby causing serious physical injury.
Also indicted by the grand jury were:
• Heather Kelly, 25, of Virgie, was indicted for receiving stolen property when she knowingly received jewelry valued at more than $500 which had been stolen from Jody Stevens on July 16, 2012.
• Mark Evans, 43, of Shelbiana, was indicted for first-degree burglary when he knowingly entered the dwelling of John Michael Robinson with intent to commit a crime and was armed with a deadly weapon or caused injury to Robinson in November 2012.
He was also indicted for:
— Theft by unlawful taking, when he took control of checks valued at more than $500 belonging to Robinson;
— Theft of controlled substance when he took control of a substance belonging to Robinson;
— Fourth-degree assault when he caused physical injury to Robinson;
— Eight counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument when he uttered or possessed checks in varying amounts belonging to Robinson which had been forged.
• Sheline West, 49, of Pikeville, was indicted for theft by unlawful taking when she took control of more than $500 which belonged for Fellowship Freewill Church between August 2012 and March 15, 2013.
• David Carson Bentley, 32, of Jenkins, was indicted for receiving stolen property when he knowingly received tires and rims valued at more than $500 which had been stolen from Keith White on Aug. 13, 2012. He was also indicted for second-degree persistent felony offender, having previously been convicted of theft by unlawful taking on Jan. 16, 2008 in Pike County.
