NAUGATUCK - Shelby Valley scored five runs in the top of the 3rd inning and went on to beat Tug Valley 13-4 in baseball action Tuesday night at the TVHS field at Naugatuck.
The Wildcats scored three more runs in the 4th inning, one more in the 6th and three insurance runs in the final frame to coast to the win.
Tug Valley scored a pair of runs in the 3rd inning and one each in the 5th and 6th innings.
Mikey Newsome took the loss on the mound for the Panthers, while McKenzie Fields got the win for the Wildcats.
Evan Tackett went 3-for-5 with one RBI for SVHS, while Nick Wallace also had three hits and a pair of RBIs. Matt Harris had two hits and one RBI for the Cats.
David Runyon had a double and two RBIs for Tug Valley. Tyler Lucas, Phillip Lucas and Ethan Hager each had a base hit for the Panthers. Hager scored two runs, while Tyler Lucas and Newsome scored the other runs for TVHS.
Tug Valley left eight runners stranded on the bases. Once again errors hurt the Panthers.
