Wyoming East tops Mingo Central 8-2

NEW RICHMOND — The Wyoming East Warriors made the best of five hits and three Mingo Central errors, and also turned a triple play to pick up the win 8-2 Wednesday at their home field in New Richmond.


Alex Lee, Matt Lester, Garth Simpkins and Todd Stone had two hits apiece for Mingo Central. Simpkins, Lester and B.J. Warden each smacked doubles. Stone had an RBI to help his own cause.


Derek Thornton pounded a pair of home runs and drove in three for the Warriors, while Hunter Justice added a home run, a double and drove in two runs.


Austin Canada yielded 10 hits, but allowed just two runs to get the win. Canada also smacked a double. Stone took the loss for the Miners. Mitchell Robbins and Alex Lee also saw action on the mound for MCHS.
