Henrietta Copley Collins May, 72, of Matewan, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Knoxville, Tenn.
She was born July 28, 1940, in Dunlow, to the late Leonard Carlos and Hazel Moore Copley.
In addition to her parents, Henrietta is preceded in death by her former husband, Steve Collins Sr.; and husband Chester L. May; brothers, Howard Earl Copley and James Edward Copley; sisters, Mary Whitt and Alice Fay Ballard; and daughter, Michelle Dawn Collins.
Henrietta was retired having worked as the secretary for the Matewan Elemetary School
She is survived by son, Steve (Rebecca) Collins Jr.; daughter, Cheryl Fay (Roy) Underwood; sister, Ruby Jean Deskins; grandchildren, Natasha and Shannon Underwood, Steve Collins III, Cooper and Lochlann Collins. Henrietta is also survived by boyfriend Darel Mahon; brother-in-law Lynn E. Ballard; and sister-in-law Lula Copley; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 21, at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Copley officiating. Burial followed at the Maynard Cemetery at North Matewan. Steve Collins Jr., Roy Underwood, Steve Collins III, Natasha Underwood, stepson Larry May, Dale Long, John Vanover, and Mathew Copley served as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan.
