Dorothy Virginia Chapman, 87, of Matewan, passed away on Saturday January 12, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
A daughter of the late Floyd and Martha Bridie Culumns, Dorothy was born July 13, 1925 in Ameagle.
Dorothy was not just a homemaker her smile was the light of her home and her laughter was music to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Alex Chapman.
She leaves to honor her loving memory and mourn her passing, sons Morris(Kim) Williams of Cleveland, OH; Joe Chapman of Matewan, WV; and John (Edna) Chapman of Charleston, WV; daughters Martha (Bill) Hart of Jacksonville, FL; Laura Chapman of Williamson, WV; Ruby Jones of Matewan, WV; and Faith (Richard) Moore of Charleston, WV; brother Alfred Culumns of Flint, MI; grandchildren Alex Moore; Keia Jones; John Chapman; Adrienne Moore; Jonathan Wright “Pee-Wee” Jones; Benjamnin Jones; Alexus, Stephanie, Robert, Richard, Morris Jr., Michael, Johnny, David and Kimetra Williams Jr.; Shalon and Bernadett Brooks; Jessica Flemmings and a host of great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by nephew Howard Culumns.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 15, at 1 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Skip Reynolds, Elder Thomas Moore, and Rev. David Bell officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family will begin receiving friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan.
