William E. “Bill” Godby passed away November 17, 2012, in Florida after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 6, 1941, at Elk Creek, he was the son of the late W.H. “Bill” and Edna Adams Godby.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Brenda; an infant grandson Little Russ; and a brother Tom Godby of Alabama.
Bill attended Burch High School in Delbarton. He loved to restore very old cars, especially Model A’s. He attended all the old car shows in different states before his illness prevented him from doing so.
Survivors include his son Billy Godby; his grandchildren William, Dessa, and Ashley of Ohio; sisters Sylvia Leclair of Colorado, Luci Seigler of California, Dottie Maynard of Delbarton, Opal Wulderk of Florida, and Mary Kennedy of Ohio; brothers Bob Godby of Georgia, Don Godby of North Carolina, and James Goby of Florida; a very special friend and former wife Linda Godby of Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In honoring Bill’s wishes, he was cremated, and his cremains will be placed at his daughter’s grave in Shelby, Ohio.
Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We’re sure he is in Heaven planting roses and other flowers which he loved to do.
