Charles Varney, devoted son, beloved brother and cherished uncle went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18th, 2012. Charles was a thoughtful and caring person who loved children, especially his nieces and nephews. Charles was the fourth son of the late Alex and Elizabeth Varney. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Raymond Varney, Jennings Varney and Ed Varney and one sister; Dorothy Varney Pinson.
Surviving sisters are Irene Marcum of Logan, West Virginia, Wanda Wells of Dayton, Ohio and Mary Hatfield of Wheeling, West Virginia, as well as two surviving brothers; John (Carol) Varney of Kermit, and Eugene (Madge) Varney of Spencer, West Virginia.
He spent his final days at the home of his adored great nephew, Ethan Varney, his little buddy. He was surrounded by his loving care givers, Sara and John Harlen Varney as well as other family members. Charles worked and retired from Columbia Gas. He acknowledged Jesus as his personal savior and recently followed this in Baptism.
Visitation will be held at the Warfield Chapel of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20th from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the Little Dove United Baptist Church in Belo, West Virginia on Friday, December 21st at 1:00pm with Glenn Moore and Jimmy Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, WV. Visitation will be held at the Warfield Chapel of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
