Naomi Madeline May, 88, of Grundy, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2012, from Bristol Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.
She was the daughter of the late T. J. and Dolly May Trent.
She was a homemaker and seamstress until her homegoing. She was also a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1944, from Williamson Memorial Hospital, in Williamson. Naomi attended Grundy Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Naomi was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will certainly be missed by many. Her cooking and baking will also be missed, along with her beautiful smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Raymond May of Grundy; three daughters, Sharon (Charles) Hall of Bristol, Va., Penny Davis of Roanoke, Va., and Betsy (Mike) Moses of Somerset, Ky. She was also survived by 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Naomi were held Sunday October 28, at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel at Grundy, with the Rev. Donald Tittle officiating. Burial followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers were Deacons of Grundy Baptist Church. Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy was in charge of all arrangements.
