Elder John Paige, 73, of Williamson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2012, following a lingering illness.
Born April 12, 1939, at McAndrews, Ky., he was the son of the late William and Ella Winbush Paige.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Robert Paige.
Elder Paige was an Elder and the Pastor of The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ at Vinson Street in Williamson. His main priorities in life was the work of the Lord and his family. This was demonstrated in the his daily walk of life whether it was in song, sermon, devotion to his family, or his love for helping people. He was a veteran having served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Maggie Paige of Williamson; his children Darry (Ruby) Paige, Dennis (Martha) Paige, Remona Paige, and Gloria (Robert) Moore all of Williamson; one brother, Michael Winbush of Virginia; six sisters, Ernestine Williams, Emma Knox, Irene Lee, and Gloria Paige all of New York, Alberta Stacy of Baltimore, Md., and Clarice Guyton of Charleston. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 24, at noon from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Pastor Delmer Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, with his sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
