Robert J. Rife, 69, of Matewan, departed this life on Monday, September 17, 2012, from his home.
A son of the late Gordan Coyd and Susie May Gibson Rife, Robert was born on November 21, 1942, in Grundy, Va.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby.
In addition to being a loving father, brother, grandfather, friend, and neighbor, Robert was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Cuban crisis. He was also retired, having worked as a coal miner.
He leaves to honor his loving memory and mourn his passing, his son Kyle Ray (Sarah) Rife of Matewan; daughter Sharon Warrix of Tennessee; brothers Jennings T. Rife, Ralph A. Rife, and Wendel R. Rife; sisters L. Frankie Thibedou and Susan Kay Mahon; grandchildren Amber (David) Boyd, Jason Priestley, Chris Priestley; great-grandchildren Tyler Kinser, Ashton Kinser, Brittany Perkins; and great-great-granddaughter Kenley Cooper.
Honoring services will be conducted Friday, September 21, at 1 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Lowell Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends on Thursday, September 20, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan.
