A swarm of yellowjackets are about to embark on the Tug Valley again this weekend, but don’t worry, they are just former graduates of Chattaroy High School in town for their annual all-class reunion.
The area will soon be teeming with people from all across the country: California, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, New Mexico, as well as local folks, who will gather to take part in this three day event.
The first graduating class was in 1925, the last was 1962. The 1962 class is expecting a good turn-out, as it will be their fifty year reunion.
After the class of 1962 graduated, the school was consolidated with Williamson High, yet remained a middle and elementary school for several years. The building was later demolished, along with the gymnasium, but the memories of happy school days remain for the Chattaroy alumni.
On Friday, September 14th, at 6:00 p.m., there will be registration, refreshments and fun.
On Saturday the 15th, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a dinner, followed by dancing. Music will be provided by local D.J., Kyle Lovern.
On Sunday the 16th, at 9:00 a.m., there will be a continental breakfast, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. to honor those who are no longer with them but will be forever with them in their hearts.
All events will take place at the Belfry Fire Department, located across from the Belfry Middle School.
